Oh Maya, this sucks. I hate that you’re having to go work everyday and walk on pins and needles because of your boss. Hopefully, he’ll lighten up or you’ll be able to post for another job within the company very soon. There’s not much worse than feeling stuck in a job you hate.

That sucks. This is my advice. Check your work once, twice, and three times. Check every detail. Keep a paper trail of what you do (like make personal notes with dates and times, keep all sent and received emails, print calendars, etc.). Be professional with him and share no personal info.

I as an associate attorney worked for one of the partners at my firm. He was just liked your boss. He always tried to get me in trouble and always said I didn’t tell him things that I know I did. I kept all my emails that I sent to him and threw them up in his face when he challenged me. I never said much to him other than hello.

The whole while I was looking for a job at another firm. Also, I NEVER said anything to anyone I worked with. Those things have a way of getting back to the boss.

Start looking for something else discreetly.

I felt so much better when I left. OK, so I go to another firm. And then he came to that firm too!! But I didn’t work with him there.

Oh man, what a turd. I hope it settles down, and becomes manageable for you soon. It may have to be a “grin-and-bear-it” situation for you for a while? Blurgh.

I know how much you love working at your company, so it would be SUCH a shame if you left. You won’t work for him forever!!

That post totally reminded me of 1 out of the 2 male bosses I’ve had…he was a complete and utter asshole. The kind of guy that still wanted a “secretary” (and required panty hose be worn) though he was only in his 40′s. Some people get on such power trips, it is absolutely sickening. But, my female boss has also pulled the whole “I don’t remember you asking off” thing, too after I told her each week for the three weeks leading up to the day off…she also once told me she never got an email that I sent requesting time off but she magically had received the one I sent about 5 minutes prior. Thus part of the reason I have grown to HATE having a boss, male or female.

I hope it all works out for you though; work stress takes such a toll.

I’ve been there before. I know how much it sucks. Can you be moved to another department?

Guys like that never get it – that it’s their problem. Everyone who works for them is just “not good”.

I pity his wife the most. Hang in there.
